Mind Your Mind - Informal Practice of Mindfulness

School Project (2022)

For the Mind Your Mind exhibition, I created a short animation to promote the informal practice of mindfulness. This work is a part of two introduction animation videos created with Belinda Chan, my peer Master of Design student. Both of us received Multimedia Design Hgh Achievement Award for this capstone project.

*There is no sound, as audio is unavailable at the screening venue.

Mindfulness “Informal Practice”

When it comes to the practice of mindfulness, we tend to think of formal meditation. However, it is possible to incorporate mindfulness more casually.
This animation is to promote the “informal practice” of mindfulness, which helps us have a moment to reflect and be aware of our senses during our daily activities.

Character Design

As the exhibition targeted visitors of different ages, genders and professions, I designed characters that everyone could relate to.

Visually Mindful Animation

One of the challenges was that we could not play audio at the screening venue and had to rely upon the on-screen text. I paid close attention to the typeface and pacing, not only for legibility but also to make sure to create a calm and mindful audience experience.
